Happy Halloween!!

This year felt like the first real Halloween with kids – the hectic getting them ready, often at the same time, feeling crabby about it, understanding why my mom always got us ready and then stayed home…..but then everyone was all ready and it was awesome!! We ran into the mayor when we stepped outside, who told us that he hoped to see us later for trick or treating and loaded ourselves into the car and headed to the square. The stores all gave out candy and it was great! The cold though….ugh….it was a short trick or treating adventure for us. We hit two houses when we got back home – the mayor’s house and some lovely neighbors two houses over. The kids were just too cold to do anymore and really how much candy do they need at their ages?!?! Now we’re having a dinner of candy…which is the expectation on Halloween, right?

Happy Halloween!!!

We are now the proud owners of nothing!! We closed on our building yesterday, deposited the check, and waited to wake up from a dream…when that didn’t happen, we went shopping and enjoyed a date! The new owners are a nice young couple and expecting a baby on Wednesday (yikes!!) and we wished them well and exchanged information should they have any questions such as: what the heck does this button do? and, where can I find the lawn mower? We contacted our old neighbors to let them know they are getting some nice new ones and went on our merry way.

Today we’re hanging out around home and have some serious, raking the leaves, plans with the neighborhood kids over at the mayor’s house. It feels good! Enjoy your weekends!!

It was a rainy day over here and our plans got rearranged. I intended on bringing the kids to the square and hitting up the candy shop, but Conrad fell asleep, so we drove around for a while and then headed home where we brought him inside and was subjected to this:

He stayed in the chair for another hour, while Natalie and I wandered around him talking and playing. Unfortunately he rolled off the chair and that’s how he woke up, but he was more startled than hurt. So, that’s good.

Yesterday I met up with a friend for dinner and decided to spend five minutes upstairs getting ready and made a rookie mistake. A really big, rookie mistake. I left the kids painting at the table on paper and came back to…..

He looks good, right?!?! It was hilarious and in retrospect a bit too quiet…and that never is a good thing….Happy Monday!

Hi guys, we’re still not really posting a lot….but school is going really well for the kids and Natalie told us the other day, that she really thinks it’s helping her not feel lonely or grumpy, so hooray! Conrad is happy that school has toys for him to play with…haha.

We’re also still outside A LOT. In fact, after talking with 3 neighbors who have all lived here 8 years or more, apparently I know a lot more people than they do….but as the kids are getting bigger, it’s so important to be outside as much as we can. I’m also getting out a lot more with just Conrad – after we drop Nat off at school, you can find us sipping some hot cocoa in the park in the square or heading to a park or just driving around to find all the train track crossings we possibly can.

The neighborhood kids are all getting together a bit more, although once it’s dark at 5pm, I imagine that will be limited to weekends. For now though, we’re all enjoying the cooler air and the kids are all busy running around like maniacs and generally having a good time. Today, Natalie was rolling down the hill with all the other kids and just laughing and having a grand time. It’s really such a great thing!!

October is a busy month for us birthday wise, so we have plans a lot of the weekends. We’re hoping to close on the building sometime after October 20th, as we’re just awaiting for our buyers to get all their financial things in order. We’re really looking forward to a building free winter and spring and summer…well you get the idea….fingers crossed that it all goes as planned!!!

We had a really windy day and hit the park with the intention of flying a kite, but once we got there (literally a 6 minute drive) the wind mysteriously disappeared, but the kids were happy to play on the playground. We also had a field trip to the fire station!! It was a tad overwhelming for our kids, especially since 3 busloads of kids also attended….it was just the tiniest bit loud and crowded…as you can imagine.
